Vaccines brought to TravelMED by Patients: Due to the importance of cold chain of custody for vaccine efficacy and safety we only administer vaccines maintained in our cold chain of custody. TravelMED does not administer vaccines brough in by patients as we have no way of knowing if cold chain of custody has been maintained and whether the vaccines brought in are safe or effective.
Vaccination Policy: At TravelMED we believe that vaccinations are an important tool to mitigate the risk realted to travel related diseases. Travel abroad, especially to developing countries exposes Canadians to diseases and medical risks which may not be normally present in Canada. A consultation with a travel medical professional and, where appropriate, vacciantion and medication can play an important role in mitigating such travel medical risks. Patients who choose to be vaccinated must understand that vaccination may carry a risk in itself. It is up to the patient, based on advice from a travel medical professional, to determine the balance and to make a decision what is appropriate in their individual circumstances.
